- Objectives of the Workpackage
Very few targets or mechanisms have been established for epilepsy-regulated miRNAs. This workpackage will attempt to uncover the mechanisms by which changes to neuronal connectivity and miRNA identified in WP1-3 result in changes to cell excitability in the brain. Led by University Medical Center Utrecht (R.J. Pasterkamp), Philipps University (G. Schratt) and University College London (S. Schorge), research will investigate the consequences of genetic and pharmacologic manipulations of the identified miRNAs on neuronal structure and function in vitro and in vivo, and identify the mRNA targets involved.
